YouTube will now pay you up to $ 10,000 to create popular short films.

Why is it important: Would you like to make $ 10,000 a month? All it takes is a short video clip that attracts a lot of views and interest. YouTube is giving away money as an incentive to creators who use its TikTok-style Shorts platform.

Earlier this year, YouTube announced a $ 100 million fund for those filming popular short films that were fully rolled out in 100 countries last month. Starting today, throughout 2022, “Thousands of Eligible Creators” could charge anywhere from $ 100 to $ 10,000 each month, depending on how many people watch their content and specific engagement metrics.

YouTube has never specified the minimum viewership as it changes every month. He said TechCrunch that “it will determine how it calculates the thresholds by analyzing the top performing channels and then calculating their bonus based on a number of factors, including views, their audience location, and more.”

Creators who are eligible for payments will receive notifications on the second week of each month via the YouTube app. Then they will be able to demand money by the 25th of the same month.

There are some conditions: the content must be original – no videos re-uploaded from other platforms such as TikTok or any other that contain watermarks; creators must be 13 years of age or older, and those under 18 need a parent or guardian to create their own Adsense account, link it to the creator channel, and agree to the terms. In addition, the channels must have uploaded at least one eligible short film in the last 180 days.

Payments are currently only available in ten regions, including the US, UK, India and Brazil, but will expand to other markets in the future. Ultimately, the Shorts Fund will be replaced by a “long-term scalable monetization program,” said Neil Mohan, director of product for YouTube.

Other platforms offer similar rewards to creators: Facebook has a fund of over $ 1 billion for videos posted to Facebook and Instagram; Pinterest has a $ 500,000 fund; and TikTok’s has $ 200 million ready for US creators.
