Volition Announces Saints Row: Self Made, Unique Reboot Of Beloved Franchise

In the context: At Gamescom’s opening, Volition unveiled its next game in the Saints Row series as promised, but it’s not Saints Row V. Instead, it’s a reboot of a franchise called Saints Row: Self Made and shouldn’t be mistaken for a remake of the first title in the series.

Saints Row: Self Made is a brand new game set in what some have predicted in the American Southwest in the fictional city of Santo Ileso. There are four main characters – Eli, Kevin, Nina and the player character, “The Boss”. Quartet just Start they are building their “criminal empire”, but first of all they need to take care of three rival gangs.

Volition has shared an announcement trailer (laid out) and a very brief preliminary alpha gameplay teaser (below). during Gamescom opening. This sounds a lot like the familiar Saints Row action movie fans. The developers told Engadget that they gave up on childish humor, but the game’s irreverence remained unchanged.

Fans can also expect to see the insane weapons that are in some way iconic for the series. Volition has even hinted that several of the more popular of its previous games will be appear but I will not go into the details of which ones. Some of the craziest missions are also making a comeback, including my personal favorite, Insurance Fraud. There is something fun and enjoyable about rushing to the cars to see how long you can last. rag

The tonal shift and the fact that Volition is doing a reboot rather than Saints Row V came from the idea that the original narrative had run its course.

“The original story, by the end of Gat from Hell, had burned through its entire narrative catwalk,” Lead Mission Designer Jeremy Bernstein told Engadget. “When your player’s protagonist conquered Earth, ascended to Divinity and escaped from hell, there is little you can do to surpass that.”

Saints Row: Self Made Coming To Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC. It should hit the shelves on February 25, 2022.
