Bottom line: Sony has released the second official trailer for Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City ahead of the movie’s theatrical premiere on November 24. The preview, dubbed “Nightmare Trailer”, begins where the last one ended. And by that, I mean, it’s filled to the brim with the horror and blood that some fans have craved for the franchise.
As we learned last month, Welcome to Raccoon City is based on the first two Resident Evil games and is not associated with any of the other films in the franchise. The film takes place in 1998, when Chris and Claire Redfield, along with many other familiar faces from the early games, explore what Umbrella is doing and try to “get through the night.”
The first trailer may have come across as low budget. As a longtime fan of the original game, this second trailer really thrilled me to see what Sony and writer and director Johannes Roberts put together.
Sony Pictures has also posted several YouTube videos in recent weeks for those looking to learn more about the film’s characters.
Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City hits theaters on November 24.
