Why is it important: Samsung has unveiled its most powerful Tab A device to date, the Galaxy Tab A8. Key details such as the exact launch date and pricing remain a mystery, but we should get those details in the coming weeks – possibly at the Consumer Electronics Show next month.
Samsung’s latest tablet features a 10.5-inch WUXGA (1920 x 1200) TFT display driven by an unnamed CPU and GPU platform, each 10% faster than the Galaxy Tab A7, which was a Snapdragon 662.
Memory and storage configurations will vary by region, but expect to see any combination of the following: 3GB RAM with 32GB internal storage, 4GB RAM with 64GB internal storage, or 4GB RAM with 128GB storage. All models are additionally equipped with a microSD slot that supports cards up to 1 TB.
V Tab A8 Supports Wi-Fi 5 (802.11 a / b / g / n / ac), Bluetooth v5.0 and, on some models, wireless LTE. The 7,040mAh battery provides up to 15W fast charging (fast charging adapter sold separately), although Samsung hasn’t said much on the expected battery life.
Buyers also get an integrated quad-speaker system with Dolby Atmos and 3.5mm audio jack, as well as one 5MP front-facing camera and one 8MP autofocus camera. All variants will ship with Android 11.
