Razer develops its own limited edition Fossil Gen 6 smartwatch

In the context: As one of the remaining companies with a physical presence at CES 2022 in Las Vegas, Razer opened its booth on Wednesday to showcase several of its latest offerings, including the revamped Blade line of laptops and a futuristic, modular desk-style PC.

Razer also seized the opportunity to announce collaboration with watchmaker Fossil for limited edition wearable devices. As the name suggests, the Razer X Fossil Gen 6 smartwatch incorporates the latest in Fossil design. Gen 6 and combines Razer’s special flair. In addition to two Razer-branded interchangeable straps (black and neon green), the wearable comes with three Razer-exclusive watch faces – analog, text and digital Chroma – on a round 326ppi display.

Because it’s built on the same Fossil Gen 6 platform, the wearable is powered by a Snapdragon Wear 4100+ processor for superior speed and performance. Apps load faster, and the watch is generally more responsive and energy efficient. Fossil claims a 30 percent performance improvement over Gen 5 running Google Wear OS.

The watch also features wellness features that build on the Razer Champions Health Initiative. launched a few months later.

“Wellness is incredibly important to our customers as well, and Gen 6 was designed with everyday wellness goals in mind — whether it’s the time it takes to reset with a guided breathing session, track your sleep, or track your heart rate throughout the day. – said Steve Evans, chief executive officer of the Fossil Group brand, chief executive officer of the Fossil Group.

The Razer X Fossil Gen 6 includes an upgraded heart rate sensor and a new SpO2 sensor that measures and monitors the user’s blood oxygen level. The watch is equipped with a fast charging system that brings it up to 80 percent in about 30 minutes. Razer suggests this makes it ideal for wearing in bed to track sleep and then recharging it in the morning before starting the day.

The large 44mm stainless steel body can house a 1.28-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth 5.0 LE, Wi-Fi, GPS, NFC SE, 8GB of storage and 1GB of RAM.

The Razer X Fossil Gen 6 will be available later this month at Fossils and Razer online stores or “select” retail outlets. The MSRP is $ 329. Those interested can subscribe to notifications on the Razer website, as only 1,337 units are produced.
