Nothing Represents Ear (2) Premium Wireless Headphones for $149

In a nutshell: Nothing introduced its second-generation Ear (2) wireless headphones. A formal successor to the Nothing Ear (1) (and not to be confused with the Sophomore Ear), the new Ear (2) has a dual chamber design and custom 11.6mm dynamic drivers. They are Hi-res Audio certified for playback at up to 1Mbps and support up to 24-bit/192kHz and LHDC 5.0 for high-definition streaming via Bluetooth.

The headphones also provide active noise cancellation up to 40dB with three levels to choose from. Like other Nothing products, they use clear plastic for a unique look.

Every bud measures 29.4mm x 21.5mm x 23.5mm and weighs 4.5 grams, slightly less than the original’s 4.7 grams. The charging case is also smaller and lighter, measuring 55.5mm x 55.5mm x 22mm and weighing 51.9 grams.

Speaking of battery, Nothing claims that its new headphones can last around 6.3 hours with ANC off on a single charge, or four hours with ANC on. Add to that the extra power in the charging case and you get up to 36 hours of playback with noise canceling off or 22.5 hours with it on.

The charging case can be charged using USB Type C or wirelessly using a Qi-certified charger. A quick 10-minute charge can provide about eight hours of music listening time with noise canceling turned off.

Ear (2) is compatible with Android 5.1 and above, and iOS 11 and above. To control playback, simply squeeze the stem of the bud. A single press will play/pause and answer or end calls, a double press can skip ahead/reject calls, and a triple press will skip one track back. Squeeze and hold toggle ANC modes.

Nothing Ear Wireless Headphones (2) will be available for pre order from March 23 at a price of $149, with shipments due March 28. They are only offered in one color, white, but this may change in the future.
