Nintendo Switch update finally adds folder support

Editor’s opinion: The ability to sort games into folders is one of the Switch’s most requested features. While it’s a positive sign that Nintendo has finally made it big, the implementation probably won’t satisfy everyone. Besides, why did it take more than five years?

Nintendo has finally added a feature to the Switch that perhaps should have been there from day one.

A new feature that has become part of software update version 14.0.0 March 21 allows users to create groups on the Switch. Groups are essentially folders; users can create up to 100 unique groups, each containing up to 200 headings.

Groups can only be used if you have a dozen or more software titles stored on your Switch. It is noteworthy that the same game can be added to several categories. For example, you might have classic Zelda games in a dedicated Zelda group and a Retro group.

Update 14.0.0 also changes the behavior of Bluetooth audio. The maximum output volume for some Bluetooth devices has been increased so that you can now adjust the volume level of Bluetooth devices using the switch or controls on the audio device. What’s more, the volume displayed on the Switch should now reflect the Bluetooth audio volume when changes are made using the device’s control buttons.

Full details on how to create and manage groups can be found at Nintendo Support Page.
