Multiple RTX 2060 Cards With 12GB VRAM Listed On Regulatory Website Ahead Of Rumored Announcement

What happened now? With the graphics card market deteriorating, rumors have been circulating for a long time about an updated RTX 2060 with 12GB of video memory, which Nvidia hopes will satisfy some of the demand. Based on new regulatory filings from Gigabyte, the card could be announced this month and released in early December.

While rumors of a restart have been circulating as far back as January, the last time we heard of the improved specs RTX 2060 was in September, when Nvidia reportedly planned to launch it as a way to fill a gap in the market until Intel releases its first Arc Alchemist GPU.

Previous rumors claimed the refreshed RTX 2060 would launch on December 7th, but Nvidia may have announced the card earlier. The well-known informant @momomo_us noticed the publication of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) published on November 15, which mentions four new article numbers for Gigabyte video cards:

  • GV-N2060OC-12GD
  • GV-N2060D6-12GD
  • GV-N2060WF2OC-12GD
  • GV-N2060WF2-12GD

All cards look like RTX 2060 cards with 12GB VRAM, double the original January 2019 release. All of them are branded GB Gaming or GB WindForce and are available in standard and overclocked versions.

While the availability of 12GB of video memory seems undeniable, the rest of the specs of the new RTX 2060 are speculations. However, it is likely that it will use a different GPU than its predecessor, thereby increasing the number of CUDA cores.

While TSMC’s 12nm offerings do not face the same demand as its 7nm / 5nm outputs, Nvidia may have reasons other than supply issues for releasing the refreshed RTX 2060. The card may be new “more cheap “variant of the company, which will compete with the upcoming AMD. A budget lineup based on Navi 24 that is expected to outperform the similar RTX 3050 and RTX 3050 Ti.

The big question is how much the new RTX 2060 will cost. The MSRP is estimated to be around $ 300, which means you’ll probably end up paying over $ 400 for one. Assuming the rumors are correct, we’ll get the full story when Nvidia announces the card later this month, with a launch date set for December 7th, although some think January is a more realistic release window.
