Latest Steam Poll: Cheaper cards are the most profitable, AMD processors are more behind Intel

What happened now? Are graphics card buyers being more frugal in these times of economic uncertainty? The latest Steam poll shows that most of last month’s top-performing cards include mid-range and low-end GPUs, as well as cards from previous generations.
Despite holding the top spot for nearly five years, the GTX 1060 was the second best-performing card last month. The number of survey participants using a Pascal card in their installs jumped 0.34%, with only the RTX 3060 laptop GPU outperforming with a 0.61% increase.
The ten biggest GPU gains from the past month show a familiar picture, with the list made up of older cards like the GTX 1660 and RTX 2060, as well as mid-range and low-end options like the RTX 3060 and RTX 3050 Ti.
The top card (non-laptop) with the highest position is the RTX 3070 Ti, which gained just 0.02% last month. Interestingly, the RTX 3080 Ti, Radeon RX 6900 XT, and Radeon RX 6800 XT showed no gains, while the RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 were down 0.01% despite the recent drop in premium graphics prices. cards.
There are no significant changes in the main GPU diagram. The RTX 3060 and 3060 laptop cards come in fifth and sixth respectively.
Elsewhere in the survey, September was the second month in a row that AMD lost its CPU share to Intel. Team Red was down 0.82% to 31.24%, bringing Intel closer to the 70% user share it previously enjoyed. It will be interesting to see how things change when Raptor Lake and Zen 4 start to impact the numbers.
We also see that Windows 11 is now running on nearly a quarter of all member PCs – it was the only Microsoft OS to go up last month – 8GB is the most popular video memory, and 1080p remains the most common resolution (66.38%). , although 1440p rose 0.33% to 11.25%.
Finally, September was another month in which the Oculus Quest 2 VR headset lost user share. It was down -7.86% to 41.39%, still much higher than the second-place HMD Valve Index (17.21%).
