Google has announced that it will remove its global post on diversity strategy and research from its post after it was discovered that it had made anti-Semitic comments in a recent blog post.
Kamau Bobb will be reassigned to a STEM research role later In Washington Free Beacon discovered a post on Bobb’s 2007 blog titled “If I Were a Jew”.
“If I were Jewish I would worry about my insatiable appetite for war and killing in defense of myself,” he wrote in the now-deleted post.
“If I were Jewish today, my senses would be tormented. I would find it increasingly difficult to reconcile the long cycles of oppression that Jews have endured and the insatiable appetite for vengeful violence that Israel, my homeland, has now acquired.” .
The post was written following an outbreak of violence between Lebanon and Israel in late 2007.
“I don’t know how I can reconcile that identity with the behavior of the fundamentalist judged extremists or of Israel as a nation. The details would confuse me. I don’t understand those who suggest bombing Lebanon, massacring Lebanese, and in general part destroying Beirut in revenge for the capture of a few soldiers is justified, ”Bobb wrote.
After Beacon published his story about Bobb, which included lengthy excerpts from his blog post, several major Jewish groups, including the Simon Weisenthal Center and Stop Antisemitism, tweeted that Bobb should be fired.

Instead of licensing it, however, Google is transforming Bobb into a STEM-focused role.
In a statement released Wednesday evening, Google said it “condemned past writings by a member of our diversity team that caused deep insult and pain to members of our Jewish community and our LGBTQ + community.”
“These writings are undoubtedly harmful,” the statement continued. “The author recognizes it and apologizes. He will no longer be part of our diversity team going forward and will focus on his STEM work.”
Insider contacted Kamau Bobb and Google to comment.
Bobb has been in the role of head of diversity for nearly three years, according to his LinkedIn profile.
