Higher exhaust gas temperatures alone do not prove that the system has poorer cooling performance. It just shows that the air coming out of the console is hotter. This could be due to several reasons, including the new location of the radiator. High exhaust gas temperatures are also a consequence of efficient cooling, not just overheating of components.

Further testing was done by HardwareBusters using sensors attached to various parts of the console, including VRM, exhaust, VRAM, and CPU. According to the data, in the new PS5 console, the processor heats up by 11 ° C, from 51 ° C to 40 ° C. As for the memory and VRM temperatures, they increased by 7.5 ° C and 1.5 ° C, respectively. The exhaust temperature of the old PS5 was about 2.5 ° C lower.

However, this is not the end. Both were much colder than the GamerNexus PS5, with the VRM temperature being about 9 ° C cooler and the memory temperature also hovering between 6.4 ° C and 20.4 ° C.

Other tests done by HardwareBusters show that the fan duty cycle was roughly the same between the old and new models, but the measured noise was slightly higher on the latter at idle. The power consumption of the two models during gaming was very similar, with a slight upward trend in the new model. On the home screen, the updated PS5 uses less power.
