I7-12700H and 3080 Ti laptop benchmarks leaked ahead of official announcement

Why is it important: More benchmarks have surfaced on Geekbench this week for new Intel and Nvidia hardware. This time it is the not yet released Intel and Nvidia i7-12700H and the RTX 3080 Ti laptop, respectively. Multiple entry leaks provide meager clues about CPU and GPU performance compared to their neighbors.

The entries appeared on Geekbench on Monday, after which BenchLeaks raised them. They all appear to be for a new entry in the HP Omen series of gaming laptops, which offers an early look at the Alder Lake i7-12700H processor and Nvidia RTX 3080 Ti GPU.

All records show the i7 has a base clock of 2.45GHz and an overclocking frequency of around 4.1GHz, with 14 cores, 20 threads, and 24MB of L3 cache. Its Geekbench 5 appraisals are equal to 1328 for single-core and 10517 for multi-core. The GPU information is slightly less consistent, however.

One entry clearly names a 3080 Ti laptop with no other information other than Vulkan Graphics API performance, with a total score of 90114. Other shows an anonymous “Nvidia graphics device” with an OpenCL API score of 127392, 16 GB of video memory, a maximum frequency of 1395 MHz and 58 compute units. Compute units are only used in AMD graphics cards, so this could actually mean 58 Nvidia streaming multiprocessors, of which the 3080 only has 48.

Wccftech’s comparisons in fact the 3080 Ti laptop is slightly lower than the 3080 laptop, but that might just be because the drivers for the 3080 Ti are not ready yet. Compared to multi-core, the i7-12700H can outperform the 11th generation i9-11980HK.

A benchmark leak late last month put the i9-12900HK above Apple’s latest M1 Pro and M1 Max.
