In short: Henry Cavill – Man of Steel, Geralt of the Riviera and fan of all things PC related – once again publicly expressed his love for the platform. The actor said he plays over four hours a day and once again named Total War: Warhammer III as his favorite game of the moment.
Cavill appeared on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast on October 26 to discuss his return as Superman, Enola Holmes 2, the next season of The Witcher, and more. He was also asked about his gaming habits.
One would expect a busy guy like Cavill to have a hard time finding time to work at a computer, but when asked about how much time he spends in front of a monitor, he admitted that it was “quite a lot”, which “probably means a lot to those who ain’t no game.”
Clicking on the details, Horowitz joked, “Just four hours a day?” to which Cavill admitted that it was possibly more.
Cavill also mentioned his favorite PC game series, Total War: Warhammer, having beaten the second game six times across six different races. No wonder he plays Total War: Warhammer III. “I love this game, it’s so good,” Cavill said enthusiastically.
The conversation then turned to Cavill’s other geeky love: tabletop miniatures; He previously showed off his skill at drawing Adeptus Custodes models on Instagram. Cavill admitted that he proudly displays his collection to visitors who do not share his enthusiasm.
Another question Cavill faced was whether he had the most valuable thing for geeks. You might have guessed that he would name his self-built PC with an RTX 3090 and Ryzen 9 3900X (he may have already upgraded it), but Cavill pointed to a massive statue of the Lich King sent to him by Blizzard – once he had to explain difference between Warhammer and Warcraft on TV.
Because of his love of computer games, Cavill was asked if he was interested in game development. “I don’t know,” the actor replied. “I think there’s so much work put into them and I’m not sure I want to look too far behind the curtain and see all the ones and zeros.”
Cavill appeared in the Total War: Warhammer II DLC as a unit that bears his name: Cavill, Loremaster of Hoeth, who has an ability called the White Wolf. It also appears in Star Citizen’s single-player campaign, Squadron 42, though we’ll likely be waiting many more years before it’s released.
