GoldenEye 007 Heads To Digital Release On Xbox

What just happened? One of the greatest games ever released for the Nintendo 64 will soon be playable on modern hardware. TrueAchievements has released GoldenEye 007, the original Rare first-person shooter based on the 1995 James Bond film GoldenEye. Details are still sparse, according to the post, so we’re not sure if this will be a remake, remaster, or re-release of the original.

V list achievements differs from what accompanied GoldenEye 007 remake canceled for XBLA last year. A total of 55 achievements give the player 1000 points.

Movie based games (and vice versa) are usually pretty awful, but GoldenEye 007 was a rare exception. The single player campaign and game mechanics were great, as were the graphics. But where the game really shone was in local multiplayer for up to four players. I can only imagine how many hours I spent on this game, curled up around a small 19 “CRT, playing” The Man with the Golden Gun “with friends.

The leaked achievements suggest this will primarily happen on the Xbox, although it is hoped that Nintendo will one day add it to its stable Switch Online to play on its PDA. Banjo-Kazooie, another rare game, was recently announced for Switch Online Expansion. Maybe the next one will be GoldenEye 007?

Only one question remains: Did Odjob “cheat”?
