GeForce Now Starts Deploying On LG TVs

In January, LG said it would begin adding the GeForce Now app for TV selection in the second half of the year. Finally arrival in select 2021 LG 4K OLED, QNED Mini LED and NanoCell TVs in 80 markets from today.

While the webOS app is still classified as beta, LG writes that it should be fully functional and available through the LG Content Store.

It should be noted that games will be limited to 60fps and 1080p, so you won’t be able to take advantage of the capabilities of 4K / 120Hz TVs – instead, you can always use the Nvidia Shield TV, which can stream in 4K and HDR. The app is also limited to 2-channel stereo and keyboard / mouse combinations are limited to viewing, although all supported controllers still work with games.

In addition to playing the PC games you already own, there are over 35 free games available on GeForce Now.

All GeForce Now tiers are supported, including the recently announced RTX 3080 “Ultimate Performance” tier ($ 100 over six months), which harnesses the power of this high-performance Ampere card. However, it looks like you won’t be able to use the 1440p / 120fps available with the option via the new LG TV app.

Nvidia notes that GeForce Now Priority members ($ 50 for six months) get priority access to game servers, premium RTX machines and six-hour sessions, while free users get basic installation, standard access, and are limited to one hour. sessions. Paid subscribers also receive a free copy of Crysis Remastered.

LG’s initial statement said the Google Stadia app will also hit LG TVs this year, before GeForce Now, but we’re still waiting for the first one.
