GeForce Beyond: Watch Nvidia unveil the RTX 4000 series graphics cards at 8:00 AM PT / 11:00 AM ET.

Very expected: After what seems like an eternity of waiting, Nvidia is finally officially unveiling its RTX 4000 series graphics cards today at GTC 2022. You can watch the entire GeForce Beyond livestream right here at 8:00 AM PT / 11:00 AM ET / 16 :00 Moscow time.

Nvidia will unveil its next-generation architecture, now called Ada Lovelace, at its GPU Technology Conference (GTC) during the main GeForce Beyond event hosted by its leather-jacket-loving CEO, Jensen Huang.

We still don’t know which RTX 4000 cards will be featured, but it looks like the RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 will almost certainly be featured, and the RTX 4070 will most likely be featured as well. Rumor has it that in a few hours we will also see variants of the cards, perhaps with different memory configurations or even Ti versions.

The Nvidia GeForce Twitter account recently teased the arrival of the Ada Lovelace architecture. In one of the published clips there is a note with numbers (208) 629-7538. Not 100% sure what they stand for, but the theory is that the “629” in the center of the line is the die size of the AD102 GPU. It was rumored to be 628 mm squared, suggesting that the actual figure is 1 mm larger than suggested.

The second number, 7538, is most likely the number of transistors. We have heard that the RTX 4090 will have 75 billion transistors, so the specific figure could be 75.38 billion. While the “208” at the beginning of the sequence could refer to a GPU offering 2.08x more performance than the GA102 in the RTX 3090 and RTX 3080.

Another clip shows Ada Lovelace’s “Bernoulli Number Machine Calculation Diagram”, which appears to confirm the name of the architecture – the first time the company has done so officially.

We also expect the first three RTX 4000 cards to launch in reverse power order, RTX 4090 first, then RTX 4080, then RTX 4070. Last month, there were reports that the RTX 4090 was in production and we’ve seen leaked images of third-party cards from Zotac (above), Galax and others.

Lovelace is expected to offer incredible performance compared to current generation cards: the RTX 4090 is more than twice as fast as the current RTX 3090, and even the RTX 4070 (or its Ti model) can match the RTX 3090 Ti. The series is also said to be very energy intensive and can be expensive. We’ll find out in a few hours which rumors were true.
