Earthworm Jim returns in a new animated series

Interplay Entertainment, the publisher that manages the rights to the Earthworm Jim franchise, announced earlier this year that a new game is being prepared for the new Amico Intellivision console. Now we have something to wait for.

Interplay has announced a new animated series called Earthworm Jim: Beyond the Groovy. In accordance with Diversitywho exclusively reported the matter ahead of Interplay’s announcement, he will follow the main character, an earthworm, who wears a futuristic robotic suit as he battles villains in search of the best dirt in the solar system.

According to Variety, the series is being produced by Aaron Billett along with an animation studio. Passion Pictures… Michelle C. Parandi, who runs television and film studio Interplay, said he remembers being in love with Earthworm Jim as a child.

“And there is so much potential in this story universe: a galaxy full of animals fighting for power. Jim is an earthworm in a universe where Earth is nothing more than a myth. His struggle to find meaning is surreal and comical, but it can also be linked, ”added Parandi.

The original Earthworm Jim debuted in 1994 as a side-scrolling 2D platformer, eventually spawning several sequels for a number of home consoles. The last game in the main series came out in 1999, but there was also an HD remake that went digital in 2010 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Sega also added the original game to its Genesis Mini lineup in 2019, and there was even Earthworm. … Jim is a mid-90s animated series that aired for two seasons on the WB Children’s.

There is no word yet on when the new series will premiere or on what platforms it will appear. At the presentation of the show, we learn that it will be intended for both children and adults.
