Corsair power supplies with side power connectors are now available

What happened now? Corsair officially announced the power supply that made headlines a few weeks ago thanks to its unusual design. The new RMx Shift ATX 3.0 series is the world’s first side-slot power supply designed to make life easier for PC builders.

While graphics cards and processors get the most attention, the humble power supply is arguably the most important part of a PC configuration, but its basic design has remained the same for years. Corsair RMx Shift ATX 3.0 lineleaked last month goes against tradition by placing modular power connectors on the side rather than the back.

The idea behind the new layout is that it gives PC owners better access to power cables, making removing and adding components less of a headache, especially in tight cases and with power supply shrouds. This design can also be useful for PC cases where the drive bays are so close to the power supply that the cables push against the cases.

Corsair notes that buyers will need about 30mm of free space on the side of the case for cable management. The good news for Corsair case owners is that the company has confirmed that they are all compatible, and the power supply must fit other cases that are at least 210mm wide and have sufficient side clearance. Of course, the power supply must also be accessible from the side once installed.

In addition to the unconventional design, the RMx Shift ATX 3.0 power supplies come with PCIe 5.0 12VHPWR graphics cables for those with an Nvidia RTX 4000 series card, are 80 Plus Gold certified, and range in power from 750W to 1200W. They are equipped with 140mm fans with Zero RPM support; It is worth noting that when installing the power supply, the fan will always be directed downwards. The series is certified by Cybenetics for lower power consumption, less noise and lower temperatures.

Power supplies are already available. The prices are as follows:

  • RM750 x shift – $149.99
  • RM850 x shift – $159.99
  • RM1000 x shift – $209.99
