Atomic Heart System Requirements Confirmed, 90GB Memory Required

What to look forward to: After five years of trying to figure out Mundfish’s odd-looking but well-publicized first-person shooter Atomic Heart, players will be able to try it out for themselves in a couple of weeks. The system requirements seem to be a bit less demanding than other recent AAA games.
Mundfish has released the full system requirements for their upcoming FPS Atomic Heart (one of the most anticipated PC games in 2023). The developer also revealed more details on what features PC players can expect when the game launches later this month.
The only potentially major requirement for Atomic Heart is 90 GB of disk space. The CPU, GPU, and RAM requirements are similar to other Q1 2023 releases such as Forspoken, Returnal, Dead Space Remake, and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
At low graphics settings at 1080p, an Nvidia GTX 960 or AMD Radeon R9 380 should deliver at least 30fps. The GeForce GTX 1060 and Radeon 580 – still the two most popular graphics cards – are good enough for 60fps at these specs.
Mundfish emphasized that this frame rate should be the lowest that players would expect to see on said hardware, even during intense gaming situations. At 1080p and low settings, a GTX 1060 or Radeon 580 should hit well over 60fps most of the time, even approaching 100fps.
Given this, the remaining requirements should be taken as a conservative estimate. For medium settings at 1080p and 60fps, Mundfish recommends a GTX 1070 or Radeon 5600 XT. For high settings with the same performance GTX 1080 or 5700 XT.
The GeForce RTX 2070 Super and Radeon 6700 XT have started showing up in the recommended specs for the latest games. Atomic Heart offers them for ultra settings at 1080p and 60fps. The data sheet only lists the latest high-end GPUs such as the 3080 or 6800 XT for ultra 4K settings.
Fortunately, unlike some other games, 32 GB of RAM is not recommended here. In fact, Mundfish said that 8 GB is enough if players choose to do without pre-compiling shaders.
Stuttering while playing due to shader compilation has been a common problem in recent PC games such as Elden Ring. Similar to the Dead Space remake, Atomic Heart will start compiling shaders immediately upon loading with a visible progress bar to avoid stuttering. However, this feature requires at least 12 GB of system RAM.
The system requirements do not state whether they allow for ray tracing or image reconstruction (probably not), both of which will be available in Atomic Heart. The game will support DLSS 3 and FSR 2 but will not include Intel Xess before launch. Mundfish has demonstrated Atomic Heart’s shadows, reflections, and ambient shading with ray tracing since the 2018 development video.
The game comes out February 21st. SteamGame Pass, Xbox One and Xbox Series, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
