Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is the first AC game to gross over $1 billion

In short: Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is one of the best games in the AC franchise. It also received a huge amount of post-release content and add-ons, which helped the game set a record for the series: the first game to exceed $1 billion in revenue.
Axios reports that Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot announced Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s record revenue during an investor call yesterday.
Valhalla was always going to make Ubisoft a lot of money. As with other Assassin’s Creed games, there is a whole DLC market with items such as weapons, armor, vehicles, etc. that can be purchased by players.
It helps that the game is huge and requires over 100 hours if you want to see and do just about everything. There are also free additions such as seasonal festivals and recent cross missions with Odyssey that ensure players stay.
Many of those billions of dollars will come from two huge additions to the game: Wrath of the Druids and The Siege of Paris. They are part of the Season Pass and can also be purchased separately, adding many more hours and ways to spend money to the game.
Next month, Ubisoft will see another increase in AC Valhalla’s profits when the Dawn of Ragnarök expansion is released. The 40-hour expansion will bring a lot more to the game than its two predecessors, including the ability to steal abilities from enemies, allowing the player to transform into a crow or become immune to an elemental effect, for example.
Ubisoft has also announced some statistics for their other big games. In the case of Far Cry 6, players spent an average of 45% more time in the game than with Far Cry 5, and the average time played in Ubisoft Annecy’s Riders Republic increased by 60% compared to the studio’s previous game. The periodic player investment in both games (PRI), which is the amount someone spends on top of the original purchase price, has gone up. In the case of FC6, compared to FC5, PRI increased by 30%.
