Apple unveils cheaper Apple Music Voice Plan for just $ 5 a month

In a nutshell: On Monday, Apple unveiled a new Apple Music Voice Plan. The plan builds on and sells the music streaming service tighter with Siri. The new tier replaces the individual Apple Music plan as the entry-level subscription.

Starting at $ 4.99 a month, users can easily use Siri’s capabilities to control and call up any of the 90 million Apple Music songs, tens of thousands of Apple Music playlists or radio stations. Of course, this feature is also included in the $ 9.99 Apple Music Personal Plan and its $ 14.99 / Month Family Plan. Premium subscriptions include spatial and lossless audio, lyrics, music videos, and more.

“Apple Music and Siri are natural partners and already work flawlessly together,” said Oliver Schusser, vice president of Apple Music and Beats. “With Siri being actively used on hundreds of millions of devices around the world, we are thrilled to add this new plan, which makes it easy to listen to music just by using your voice and makes Apple Music available to even more people around the world.”

Users can control Apple Music through Siri to play specific songs, albums, artists, or playlists. Improved Siri integration can also recognize more general queries such as “Play something, relax” or “Play it like this.”

The voice plan also complements Apple’s updated AirPods or HomePod mini, which are now available in three additional colors. Besides the standard white and space gray, users can choose from yellow, orange and blue models. HomePod mini supports Siri, but can also easily stream Apple Music to or from your iPhone when they are close to each other.

The Apple Music Voice Plan will be released later this fall in several regions including Australia, Austria, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, Taiwan, United Kingdom. , and the USA. The Apple Music app will also get a dedicated section with tips to optimize Siri for Apple Music.

“Non-subscribers who request music through Siri are offered a one-time, seven-day free preview with no auto-renewal,” Apple said in a press release.

To start a trial, simply say, “Hey Siri, start my Apple Music Voice trial.” Alternatively, users can subscribe to the service using the Apple Music app.
