AMD set to host RDNA 3 livestream on November 3rd

In short: AMD will share more information about its upcoming RDNA (Radeon DNA) 3 architecture during a live stream next month. The ‘Together we advance_gaming’ event will take place on November 3rd at 1pm PT / 4pm ET. AMD confirmed the date last month, the same day Nvidia unveiled its GeForce RTX 40 series GPUs, but we now have a timeline tied to the event.

Viewers can expect executives will share details about the next-generation architecture, which AMD has described as high-performance and power-efficient. AMD said back in June that RDNA 3 will offer a 50 percent increase in performance per watt over RDNA 2 and will be built on a 5nm manufacturing process courtesy of TSMC. RDNA 3 will also support AV1 encoding and, unlike the Nvidia RTX 4000 series, will ship with DisplayPort 2.0.

A replay of the RDNA 3 event will be available online a few hours after completion if you are unable to watch it live.

Recent rumors suggest that the first two cards of Team Red’s Radeon RX 7000 series could be released as early as the second half of December. An insider suggested that AMD’s top card could struggle to compete with the Nvidia RTX 4090 in terms of rasterization and ray tracing performance, possibly indicating it could win by a significant margin when it comes to price.

Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 4090 starts at a mind-blowing $1,599 if you can find one to buy. The card officially launched on October 12, but it was difficult to get hold of it. A quick check of recently sold cards on eBay found that the average selling price was well over $2,000.

Nvidia also announced two variants of the RTX 4080 due out in November, but later “launched” a 12GB variant. The company said having two GPUs with the 4080 designation was confusing, but many consumers believed that Nvidia was trying to get a faster result by labeling the 12GB variant as 4080 instead of 4070.

Do you think AMD will cut Nvidia’s prices significantly, or will they follow suit and force customers to pay more to play ball?
