Amazon Hires 150,000 People to Help During the Holidays

In short: Amazon has yet another big holiday season ahead of it, and the e-commerce giant is hiring additional help to keep up with the rise in anticipated orders. Amazon announced 150,000 seasonal US jobs with an average starting salary of $ 18 an hour, in addition to up to $ 3,000 sign-in bonuses and an additional $ 3 an hour depending on shifts in many locations.

Alicia Bohler Davis, Senior Vice President, Amazon Customer Service, said Seasonal hiring helps the company deliver on its promises to customers and also provides flexibility to full-time employees during times of stress.

Available positions in the Amazon operating network including, but not limited to, stacking, picking, packing and shipping. New employees will be fully trained and all facilities are reported to adhere to strict Covid-19 safety and hygiene protocols.

Amazon reports that the states with the most seasonal jobs include Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania , Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.

A seasonal position at Amazon can provide much-needed cash for the holidays or be the first step in a long-term partnership with the company. Andrea Wilkerson, Amazon Human Resources Coordinator, joined the company four years ago as a seasonal employee and has received four promotions since then. “From experience I can say that the many jobs that Amazon offers, combined with flexible working hours, ensure that the company can meet the needs of any employee,” she said.
