In short: We often see gaming monitors and TVs with gaming features such as variable refresh rates, but gaming projectors are not that common. However, Acer is changing that with two 4K gaming projectors with built-in support for new consoles, allowing users to play in 1080p at 120Hz on PS5 / Xbox Series X | S.

Two new gaming projectors from Acer are GM712 and GD711. The first is a lamp-based projector that delivers 4K output for high definition content, or 1080p @ 240Hz for action-packed gaming. Thanks to the variable refresh rate mode, users can also play games on their consoles at 1080p, 120Hz, without tearing.

The display can scale up to 300 inches diagonally, but Acer recommends 75 inches at 2m for the best experience. In addition, the projector has a maximum brightness of 3600 ANSI lumens, HDR10 support, a 10,000: 1 contrast ratio and DynamicBlack technology to preserve detail in dark scenes.

Like many other gaming displays, the GM712 has several game modes (color profiles) that users can choose from. The device also includes an Aptoide TV app store, antimicrobial remote control, built-in 10W speaker and wireless connectivity for easy pairing with other devices. This projector is ready for 24/7 use and has a lamp life of up to 15,000 hours with Eco Pro mode, which reduces lamp brightness by 30 percent.

As for the GD711, this LED-based gaming projector is very similar to the GM712. For example, it has a variable refresh rate mode and an Aptoide TV app store, and it also displays video up to 4K or 1080p at 240Hz on PCs and 120Hz on current generation consoles. This projector also supports HDR10 content, 24/7 use and wireless connectivity, has multiple color profiles to choose from, and comes with a built-in 10W speaker and antimicrobial remote control.

Although it can display a 300 “image, Acer recommends using the projector 2m away from the wall to display a 74” screen. The maximum brightness is 1450 ANSI lumens, which is much less than the GM712, but most likely because it is an LED projector. However, for the same reason, this projector has a longer lifespan of up to 30,000 hours when Eco mode is on.

The contrast ratio of the GD711 is 2,000,000: 1 (dynamic), which allows this model to cover up to 95 percent of REC. Color gamut 709. For connection, the GD711 has 2 HDMI 2.0 ports, an audio output port and 3 USB-A ports.

The GM712 will be released in January at a price of 1399 euros, and the GD711 in December at a price of 1499 euros. Acer has not announced when these projectors will be available in the US region.
