Xiaomi 13 series will feature Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and customized Leica cameras

The Xiaomi 13 series – the alleged successors to the Xiaomi 12 series, including the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro – has yet to be confirmed by the smartphone manufacturer. Now, a Chinese leaker has revealed the main features of the Xiaomi 13 series ahead of its launch. The new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC based on the 4nm process is said to be used in future smartphones. The Xiaomi 13 series may run on MIUI 14 based on Android 13 and is said to be equipped with cameras from the Leica brand.

Tipster digital chat station (translation) proposed key features of the Xiaomi 13 series on Weibo. The newly released Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC is expected to power future smartphones, he said. Qualcomm’s largest mobile platform is based on a 4nm process and is claimed to offer a 60% improvement in artificial intelligence (AI) performance over older chipsets. It supports real-time ray tracing for gaming, and supports INT4 and Wi-Fi 7 connectivity.

In addition, the Xiaomi 13 series smartphones are reported to be equipped with a camera module customized by Leica. According to the leaker, both phones could run MIUI 14 based on Android 13.

Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro have recently been the subject of several leaks. The smartphone series is said to be going official in China soon. The Xiaomi 13 series is said to feature a 2K curved AMOLED display. The leaked renders of the smartphone suggest a center-aligned cutout in the display to house the selfie camera and triple rear camera setup.

The Xiaomi 13 Pro is said to feature a 6.65-inch curved display and can come in 256GB and 512GB storage options. Its dimensions are 163.0 x 74.6 x 8.8 mm. The camera protrusion can be 11.8mm thick.

Xiaomi has previously confirmed that its next-generation flagship will feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, but the company has yet to say if it was referring to the Xiaomi 13, which is believed to be Xiaomi’s first flagship to feature the chipset.
