Xiaomi has confirmed that it will be unveiling the Xiaomi 13 range of smartphones at an event later this week.
The manufacturer entered the Chinese social network Weibo to confirm that it will be announcing the Xiaomi 13 series in China on Thursday, December 1 at 19:00 Beijing time (11:00 GMT).
Xiaomi has also confirmed what the lineup will look like this year. Apparently, it will consist of Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro, as well as the new MIUI 14 user interface.
The timing of this event is slightly earlier than last year’s Xiaomi 12 series event, which took place at the end of December. This time there is also no mention of Xiaomi 13X, which would follow last year’s more affordable and pocketable Xiaomi 12X.
Xiaomi continues to detail some of the specifications. As Android control Highlights, Xiaomi 13 will feature a flat OLED display and a 1.61mm bezel.
Interestingly, the series will also receive IP68 authentication, the lack of which has been criticized in the very neat Xiaomi 12.
We expect the Xiaomi 13 series to feature the latest flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. We also heard from a reliable source that the Xiaomi 13 Pro will feature a camera with a powerful Sony IMX989 image sensor as part of a 50MP triple array.
The same tipster also claimed that the Pro wold gives us a 4800mAh battery and 120W charging.
If anything, we won’t have much time to know for sure, as the Xiaomi 13’s launch is just two days away at the time of writing. We’ll update you on its launch on Thursday as soon as we know more.
