Xiaomi is reportedly planning to release the Xiaomi 12 Ultra Enhanced on top of the upcoming Xiaomi 12 Ultra.
The Xiaomi 11 Ultra (pictured) may have been an oversized phone, but Xiaomi seems to be doubling down on its concept of a luxury oversized phone.
According to Xiaomi fan site XiaomiuiThe Chinese manufacturer is planning to release both the Xiaomi 12 Ultra and the Xiaomi 12 Ultra Enhanced. Links to two different new phones have been seen in the Xiaomi code, which was once called Loki (Ultra) and the other Thor (Ultra Enhanced).
The report claims that both phones, unsurprisingly, will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 SoC, just like the rest of the Xiaomi 12 models.
It looks like the Xiaomi 12 Ultra will have a camera ostensibly similar to the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra, with a 50MP wide sensor, 48MP ultra-wide and a 48MP telephoto lens with a 5x magnification periscope. However, the report claims that an optional 48MP zoom lens can be installed for 10x optical zoom.
This new 10x camera will enable a new 120x hybrid zoom in the camera UI as well as 15x video zoom.
It is worth emphasizing that all of this is mentioned in relation to the Xiaomi 12 Ultra, so it is not clear at the moment what advantages (if any) the Xiaomi 12 Ultra Enhanced has.
We should have confirmation (or otherwise) of this new addition to the Xiaomi family soon. Xiaomi Mi 11 first appeared on the territory of the house in December 2020.
