The launch of the Xiaomi 12 series will take place today (Tuesday, December 28). The new lineup is confirmed to have both regular Xiaomi 12 models and Xiaomi 12 Pro models. The rumor mill has also suggested that the Xiaomi 12X could be the third model in the lineup. Alongside the new flagship phones, Xiaomi teased the release of MIUI 13 at the launch event. The custom skin will be pre-loaded on the Xiaomi 12 series. The Xiaomi True Wireless Earphones 3 and Xiaomi Watch S1 will also appear at today’s launch event.

The Xiaomi Series 12 will launch in China at 19:30 CST Asia (17:00 IST). Launch event will be broadcast live via the company’s Chinese website and Weibo.
Xiaomi 12X, Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12 Pro price (expected)
The price of the Xiaomi 12 series has not been officially announced. However, the rumor mill has suggested that the Xiaomi 12X will be the cheapest option in the lineup and will start at 3499 Yuan (roughly Rs 41,100) for the base 8GB + 128GB storage option. The phone is also speculated to come in 8GB + 256GB and 12GB + 256GB variants, which are said to be available at CNY 3799 (roughly Rs 44,600) and Rs 3,999 (roughly Rs 47,000) respectively.
In contrast, the Xiaomi 12 will be available for RMB 4299 (roughly Rs.50,500) for the 8GB + 128GB model. It will also be available in an 8GB + 256GB variant, which is said to be priced at CNY 4,500 (roughly Rs 54,000), while the top 12GB + 256GB model will be priced at Rs 4,999 (roughly Rs 58,700).
On the other hand, the Xiaomi 12 Pro starts at 4999 Yuan (roughly Rs 58,700) for the 8GB + 128GB variant. The phone is also rumored to have an 8GB + 256GB model at Rs.5,299 (roughly Rs 62,200) and a 12GB + 256GB top variant at Rs 5699 (roughly Rs 66,900).
Xiaomi 12 series specifications (expected)
The Xiaomi 12 series is confirmed to be equipped with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC as well as the Surge P1 power management chip. The company also unveiled support for 120W fast charging and a quad-speaker dual-core speaker tuned by Harman Kardon. The Xiaomi 12 series will run MIUI 13 based on Android. In this series, the Xiaomi 12 offers a 32MP selfie camera sensor on the front.
Some past reports have contained additional specs based on rumors and leaks that suggest that both the Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro may come with triple rear cameras and 120Hz displays. The Xiaomi 12 Pro is speculated to have three 50MP sensors on the rear, while the Xiaomi 12 is rumored to have a 50MP main sensor, as well as a 13MP ultra-wide-angle shooter and a 32MP telephoto lens.
The top-end Xiaomi 12 Pro is rumored to have a QHD + screen, while the vanilla Xiaomi 12 may come with a regular Full-HD + display. The Pro model also has a 4,600mAh battery, whereas its regular variant may include a 4,500mAh battery.
In addition to the Xiaomi 12 series, the company has confirmed the launch of the Xiaomi True Wireless Earphones 3 and Xiaomi Watch S1, which are due to be presented today. The former has Hi-Fi sound and improved noise cancellation support. The latter is confirmed to have a circular design and two physical buttons.
