Xiaomi 12 Pro is replete with features, but is it enough?

Xiaomi 12 Pro price in India starts at Rs. 62,999 – Xiaomi’s new flagship phone debuted in India this week to compete with the OnePlus 10 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S22. It offers features like a 120Hz E5 AMOLED display, as well as triple rear cameras, one of which has a wider aperture than you normally see. Xiaomi 12 Pro is also the company’s first phone to debut in the Indian market with the top Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 system-on-a-chip. In addition, it comes with 8GB and 12GB of RAM, as well as 256GB of internal storage as standard.

Xiaomi 12 Pro is equipped with a 6.72-inch WQHD+ (1440×3200 pixels) E5 AMOLED display equipped with 2nd generation LTPO technology to provide a dynamic refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz.

The phone also has a triple rear camera that houses all 50MP sensors to ensure consistent image quality whether you’re shooting a wide-angle landscape or a casual portrait.

Xiaomi has equipped the Sony IMX707 as the main sensor in the camera setup. This is a large 1/1.28″ sensor that delivers excellent image quality. The telephoto lens on the Xiaomi 12 Pro also has an f/1.9 aperture, which is quite rare and not available in most competing options.

Apart from the distinctive camera, the Xiaomi 12 Pro offers four speakers that are designed to provide surround sound. The phone also features Dolby Atmos for enhanced audio output and Dolby Vision for immersive HDR viewing.

The Xiaomi 12 Pro also comes with 120W fast charging, which the company has previously offered for its mid-range models, including Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge 5G and Xiaomi 11T Pro 5G. If you don’t need traditional charging, the phone offers 50W wireless charging.

One of the key areas where the Xiaomi 12 Pro degrades is the preloaded MIUI 13 with the usual bloatware you will also get on other Xiaomi phones. The phone is also not water resistant or even splash resistant. This means that you must be very careful not to fall into the bucket of water.
