Where to pre-order the new HomePod 2 in the US and UK

When Apple discontinued the original HomePod in 2021, many thought it was the end of the road for Siri’s mainstream smart speaker. The more affordable HomePod Mini arrived just a few months earlier, and there was no sign of the updated full-size model.
However, this has not been confirmed. The updated second-generation model, one of six new products announced by Apple in January 2023, is a minor update to the 2018 original.
It is joined by the new Mac Mini, 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros, and the M2 Pro and M2 Max processors found on most models. But our focus here is on the HomePod 2, with pre-orders already available in the US and UK.
When will the new HomePod 2 be released?
Apple officially announced the new HomePod in a press release on January 18, 2023.
Pre-orders are already available in the US, UK and many other countries, ahead of the release on February 3, 2023.
How much does a new HomePod 2 cost?
The HomePod 2 costs $299/£299 for the only model available, though you can choose between black and white fabric finishes.
It’s cheaper than the original HomePod at launch ($349/£319), but its price dropped permanently to ($299/£279) soon after. It’s still more expensive than any Amazon and Google smart speaker, while the $99/£89 HomePod Mini is significantly more affordable.
