Where to buy PlayStation 5: promotions and PS5 availability

The PS5 has been on sale for over a year now, including two holiday seasons, but unfortunately it’s just as difficult to buy as it used to be.
The console has been nearly impossible to buy since launch, though it’s slowly becoming easier to find. While inventory is still selling out faster than retailers can supply it, it’s also showing up faster than ever.
The big question now is whether the PS5 will become available sometime in 2022. Restocks are expected between now and the end of the year, but they’re likely to be sporadic, so you’ll still need to be on the lookout if you’re looking to buy a console in the next few months.

How much does a PlayStation 5 cost?
PS5 is available in two models. The standard PS5 is $499/£449, while the cheaper digital version without the Blu-ray drive is $399/£359.

Where to buy PS5
PS5 consoles sell out almost instantly, and the same thing happens every time a console goes back on sale. The console is currently out of stock.
While availability is improving at a slower pace, shortages are likely to persist through most of this year as the PS5 is just part of a larger industry-wide chip shortage that Sony itself says will remain the bottleneck in production throughout the past year. hopefully we’ve been through the worst of it now.
However, promotions appear briefly at various retailers, so it’s worth keeping checking back often.
The following UK retailers still allow shoppers to request promotion notifications, meaning that if you sign up now, you can walk in the door as soon as sales start again.
Meanwhile, the retailers listed below have sold consoles in the past but are now out of stock. We would advise keeping an eye on them, in case they replenish.

Sony PlayStation Direct store. Previously only available to US customers, it is now also open to fans in the UK, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. The company only has a “limited number” of consoles available, and you’ll have to sign up with your PSN ID and hope you get an email with instructions on how to purchase the console.

EE Add to Plan Service. Since not everyone can take advantage of these offers, BT and EE customers should regularly check for new items in stock.
If you’re really desperate, you can always just sit on Twitch. A Twitch channel has been created that simply displays the results of a script that constantly checks Xbox and PS5 inventory at a number of retailers – mostly in the US, but Amazon UK and Game are also present.
When will the PS5 be back on sale?
Unfortunately, it’s hard to predict exactly when more promotions will be available and they often appear on short notice, so it’s best to keep an eye on all retailers and sign up for as many promotional alerts as possible.
While accessibility is improving slightly, progress has been slow. This is largely due to the ongoing global semiconductor shortage, which has reduced the availability of several key console components.
