What’s New in the Latest Xiaomi Smartphone Software?

Along with the release of the Redmi Note 11 series, Xiaomi has also unveiled its latest smartphone UI called MIUI 13. It brings some new useful tricks for everyday efficiency, so read on to find out what’s new.
While the luxurious hardware of the Redmi Note 11 series may have attracted the most attention at Xiaomi’s latest launch event, the brand has also chosen this occasion to unveil its latest smartphone software that will be present on all of these new devices and rolled out to some old ones too.
Built on the Android 11 operating system, here are the main changes it brings and the full list of devices that can get the update.
Fluid storage
MIUI 13 introduces a new way to manage files at the system level, which greatly improves efficiency. By reducing fragmentation and actively managing stored data, Xiaomi claims it can improve read and write efficiency by as much as 60%.
Obviously, there are long-term benefits as well; while the read and write speed of some other Android devices may drop by 50% after 36 months, MIUI 13 is expected to maintain up to 95% after the same time.
Dispersed memory
This ultra-thin memory management system aims to improve the efficiency of RAM usage, which is achieved by dividing the RAM usage of each application into important and non-important tasks, and then closing the non-essential ones to maximize RAM performance at any given time.
Focused Algorithms
Xiaomi claims that without focused algorithms, smartphone processors tend to allocate resources across all of your apps relatively equally. This feature, on the other hand, prioritizes active applications so that the CPU can handle the most important tasks, thus improving speed and performance.
Smart balance
Aimed at extending battery life, Smart Balance should automatically find the right balance between performance and power consumption on your smartphone when you need it. Xiaomi believes that you can increase your overall battery life by as much as 10% thanks to this neat trick.
If you multi-task quickly and like to get right to the point, this new feature can help you save a few precious seconds. While you’re in another app, you can bring up a sidebar filled with up to 10 of your favorite apps so you can switch to something else without having to go back to the home screen or swipe to find it.
