If you’ve been looking forward to Vivo’s Nex 5, then you’ll be disappointed to know that it’s highly unlikely you’ll ever see one. This is not because it has been canceled, but the company has rebranded the range.
So, here’s everything we know about the phone continuing the Nex line: the Vivo X Note.
When will Vivo X Note be released?
We already know that Vivo will hold a presentation on April 11 for its new foldable smartphone Vivo X Fold. Some rumors suggest that this will also be the time the company announces the X Note. This was confirmed by promotional posters that appeared on Twitter and were reportedly coming from Vivo.

We also found a Vivo Weibo channel promoting the April 11th date, so it looks like we won’t have to wait long.
How much will Vivo X Note cost?
There has been no official word from Vivo on pricing for the X Note, so we’ll have to wait for launch to get any definitive details. We can look back at the old Nex models to see what the price of a ticket could be:
Since the X Note is being reported by GSM Arena as the new brand for the Nex 5, it’s possible that the £1,000/$1,000 mark is where we’d expect the cost of entry to be placed.
And what about the characteristics of the X Note?
With a potential release date so close, it’s no wonder we’ve started to see some pretty compelling leaks about the components that could appear in the X Note. We’ve seen several reports recently that Vivo will use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 as the “brains” of the device, with a Vivo device appearing on Geekbench matching the expected X Note configuration.
An interesting perspective comes from Indian technical expert Mukul Sharma.@stufflistings), who said the chip would be a special version with additional features, although he didn’t say what those would be. It seems a bit far-fetched, but if Vivo does have an internal connection to Qualcomm, that would make the X Note a fun device.
Another recent leak, this time from Technological advantagereports to show the actual device in its finished form.

Attached to the images are some of the specs that the site says we’ll see in the X Note. These include the following:
- Snapdragon 8 Generation 1
- 12 GB RAM
- 512 GB storage
The 12GB of RAM is in line with the specs of the device mentioned in the Geekbench report, and it’s certainly the kind of storage allocation we’d expect from a flagship phone. 512GB is also premium territory, which is in line with other specs that have popped up online.
With a name like Note, you won’t be surprised to see the display be big. Very big. Several sites are reporting a 7-inch AMOLED panel that will run at 2K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. To power all this real estate, Vivo is expected to use a 5,000mAh battery that supports 80W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
According to MySmartPrice, the cameras will be composed of four lenses, consisting of a 50-megapixel main camera, which will be joined by a 48-megapixel (ultra-wide), 12-megapixel (portrait) and 8-megapixel periscope camera with 5x optical zoom.
If all these characteristics are confirmed, then the Vivo X Note could be a very impressive device. In the meantime, check out our roundups of the best Chinese phones, the best phones, and the best phones coming in 2022.
