The foldable market continues to grow, with several new additions expected this year.
One of the devices that we should see very soon is the first offering from the Chinese company Vivo, which should be officially announced in the coming days.
Here’s everything we know about the Vivo X Fold.
When will Vivo X Fold be released?
Vivo has officially announced that the presentation of the new X Fold will take place April 11, 2022confirming the news in a post on the company’s Weibo page.
It’s not yet clear if the device will be available instantly and if the phone will ever launch outside of China, but we’ll know more when that event happens.
How much will the Vivo X Fold cost?
There has been no news about the potential cost of the Vivo X Fold, so again we have to wait for the official launch. However, it is sure to be expensive as most foldable devices are on the higher end of the smartphone scale.
As a rough guide, here’s how some of the other well-known devices already on the market are ranked:
What features and specifications will we see in Vivo X Fold?
Vivo has released a promotional video for the X Fold which gives us a few clues about its design and potential specs. You can see it below, courtesy of Sparrow News.
As you can see, the main element shown in the video, apart from the internal folding panel and probably the vegan leather cover, is the quad-camera array on the back. While the promotional material only shows a few artistic shots of the device, a leaked image of the box’s packaging, along with the specs printed on the back, could (if real) give us a much better picture:

So, if that turns out to be accurate, here’s what the specs of the Vivo X Fold will look like:
- 8″ E5 AMOLED foldable display with 2K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate and LTPO 3.0
- 6.53″ FHD+ external display with 120Hz refresh rate
- 1st Generation Snapdragon 8 Processor
- Android 12
- LPDDR5 RAM (quantity not confirmed)
- UFS 3.1 storage (unconfirmed how much)
- Quad camera array: 50Mp GN5 with OIS + 49Mp + 12Mp + 5Mp
- WiFi 6
- 4600 mAh battery
- Wired charging 66W
- Wireless charging 50W
Vivo seems to be failing its first foldable test as the specs are the best in many ways. The only downside we see is that 4,600mAh might be a little underpowered if you want to use that large 8-inch 2K AMOLED display for extended periods of time. Otherwise, it’s a powerful addition to today’s technology that could shake things up when it arrives.
Luckily, we know we won’t have to wait long to see the Vivo X Fold in all its glory.
