UIDAI registers over 1 crore of Aadhaar-related mobile numbers in February

The official statement, released on Friday, said in an official statement.
Mobile number linking to Aadhaar jumped 93 percent in February from 56,700 registrations in January. Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).
“More than 10.97 million mobile numbers were seeded in Aadhaar at the request of residents in February 2023, up 93% from the previous month,” the statement said.
Linking a Pan number to Aadhaar is considered to be one of the key factors behind the increase in mobile number filling with Aadhaar.
It is estimated that Rs 90 crore worth of Aadhaar holders have linked their mobile numbers to their unique ID to date.
“UIDAI encourages residents to link their Aadhaar with a mobile phone number for better and more efficient communication, benefiting from welfare services and access to a host of voluntary services,” the statement said.
Nearly 1,700 central and state direct transfer (DBT) welfare systems and good governance schemes have been notified to use Aadhaar.
Aadhaar authentication transactions increased 13 percent to Rs 226.29 crore in February compared to Rs 199.62 crore transactions completed in January.
UIDAI has recorded 9,255.57 crore Aadhaar authentication transactions cumulatively up to February 2023.
“While the majority of authentication transactions were conducted with fingerprints, they are followed by demographics and OTPs,” the statement said.
According to UIDAI, over 26.79 crore e-KYC transactions took place in February, bringing the cumulative count to 1,439.04 crore.
