New returns from GizNext seem to give us our first clear look at Samsung’s next foldable flip phone, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3.
If legitimate, the shots show a device that deals with evolution, rather than revolution with largely the same form factors and a handful of small but significant changes in conception.
The most important of these is an increase in size to the external display. When closed, the first two generations of Samsung Galaxy Z Flip will use this 1.1-inch display to display (limited) notifications and as a viewer for selfies. This, says GizNext, has been increased to a 1.9-inch display, which should make these things a little clearer – although it’s not even a substitute for opening the phone if you need to do something about it. seriously.
Elsewhere, the renderings show a slightly rearranged camera layout, with the two lenses aligned vertically next to the display rather than horizontally as before. Presumably that’s why the larger external display has pushed them, but it’s a strong aspect nonetheless, especially with the two-tone design that Samsung seems to be using this time around.
On this note, GizNext claims that the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 “could” come in less than eight different colors, which certainly seems like a lot to us given the high-end price of the foldables. However, the claimed shade is dark green, light purple, beige, gray, black, pink, dark blue and white. You can see a few of them in the returns posted throughout the page.
The report also suggests that, like the Galaxy Z Fold 3, it will see the introduction of under-screen camera technology as it unfolds. A larger battery is also discussed, although the article does not say how much larger it is.
In terms of price, GizNext claims that the Galaxy Z Flip 3 will launch at $ 1400 (or about £ 1011 at the time of writing.) It’s significantly less than the starting price of $ 1449 / $ 1399 of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G when it debuted last year, but far from it The 20% price reduction the company has reflected this time around.
We’ll find out how much of this is true soon enough. While other reports did not agree on the beginning of August 3, the presentation is discussed here, everyone seems to agree that August is the month to watch.
