The iPhone 14 is official, comes in two sizes and comes with big camera upgrades.

Apple has just unveiled the iPhone 14, its latest smartphone. Here’s everything we know about the phone so far, including important specs, features, and release date.
We knew it would happen thanks to a plethora of leaks over the past few months, but now Apple has finally officially unveiled the iPhone 14.
It comes in two sizes, although a Mini version is not forthcoming, and overall it looks like a modest upgrade to an already very good phone.
Specifications and features of the iPhone 14
The big updates here include a new camera system with a focus on low-light performance, improved stabilization for video, and a larger wide-angle sensor that now features a lens with a much faster f/1.5 aperture.
It’s not just the rear camera that has been updated. The selfie camera now features autofocus for the first time on an iPhone, and there’s also improved low-light performance. Of course, to see the differences, we need to spend time with the iPhone 14 and go through the review process.

The iPhone 14 Plus features a 6.7-inch Liquid Retina OLED display, while the regular iPhone 14 has the same 6.1-inch screen as before. One feature that seems to be missing on the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus is ProMotion, a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate technology that delivers smoother displays. The always-on display you’ll find on the iPhone 14 Pro is also missing here, and the Dynamic Island trick around the notch is also missing.
The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus are based on the A15 Bionic, not the A16 Bionic used in the Pro phones. This means you’ll get similar performance to last year’s Pro phones. However, it should be slightly more graphically powerful than the iPhone 13 as it has an extra GPU core.
In terms of design, the iPhone 14 is very similar to the previous model. There’s a new blue color and if you buy the phone in the US, it will ship without a SIM tray and force you to rely entirely on an eSIM. Apple has yet to confirm if UK models will come with a SIM tray.
Like the Apple Watch Series 8, the phone has crash detection and various emergency SOS features designed for your safety.
iPhone 14 price and release date
The iPhone 14 will go on sale September 16 for $799, while the iPhone 14 Plus will cost $899 and will be available on October 16. In the UK, the iPhone 14 will cost £849 and the iPhone 14 Plus will cost £949.
How does it compare to other iPhones?
We haven’t reviewed the iPhone 14 yet, so we can’t make any final judgments about how good it is. But you can see our early thoughts in the comparison guides below.
