TechAdvisor.com launches its first non-English edition

In April 2021, Tech Advisor underwent the second biggest transformation in its history, having previously taken the leap from the long-established PC Advisor brand back in 2017.
We migrated the site from a country level domain (.co.uk) to a global domain (.com) and at the time I noticed that this was because we were no longer serving only English speaking visitors residing in the UK but also English speaking visitors from all over the world.
It also aligns well with our parent company IDG Communications (now Foundry) transformation period when we planned to centralize our consumer editorial teams based in the US, UK, Australia, France, Spain, Germany, Sweden and elsewhere. Poland.
Our regular visitors from the UK would hardly notice many of the changes right away. We’ve started introducing local prices for the US, Canada and Australia in our Top Deals and Deals roundups, although you might only see them if you’re coming from outside the UK. We have also begun covering more and more products available elsewhere in the world and working with experienced editors who are based outside of the UK. Indeed, at first glance, it may seem to many that we are just making a fuss about changing our URL. (We weren’t, I promise!)
Fast forward to June of this year and Tech Advisor underwent its third big transformation when we moved the site from our own content management system to the popular WordPress platform. In the outside world, the changes include a new font, a better navigation system, and an overall updated design. But for us editorial staff, this was an important change because it meant that we now have access to a centralized content hub and a platform that allows us to introduce new features that can be quickly deployed thanks to shared development resources.
One of these new features is the ability to create new editions in other languages as we continue to expand the global footprint of the Tech Advisor brand. And this week we welcome our very first edition of Tech Advisor as the team formerly branded Foundry PCWorld España joins us.
PCWorld España has a rich history, first appearing online in 1995, and our Spanish editorial team, Alba Mora Antoja, Sara Picker-Marty and Alfonso Casas, have over 30 years of experience in consumer technology. Starting today, they will be bringing their high-quality editorial content to all Hispanic visitors through Tech Advisor.
Don’t worry, you won’t be seeing Spanish content in your News Feed anytime soon. Whether you see the English or Spanish edition depends on which part of the world you’re in, but if you’d like to take a look at our shiny new Spanish edition, you can visit it directly at techadvisor.com/es-es or by selecting it with the button “Menu” at the top of the page.
The addition of the Spanish version is just the beginning of Tech Advisor’s global transformation. At the beginning of 2023, we will also welcome the Tech Advisor France team. Also, the world is our oyster and the future of Tech Advisor is really very exciting.
As always with any major code change, you may see a few bugs on the site over the next few weeks. Please contact me or Tech Advisor Executive Editor Jim Martin with any concerns.
