Surface Duo 2 is out now. Microsoft announced the second generation of foldable dual-screen devices at its September 22 event and is now available for purchase – and not only that, the UK even has an up-to-date Black Friday offering for the phone.
Unlike other devices unveiled at the event, the Duo 2 runs Android, even if it’s not Android 12 out of the box.
However, the big changes here are in the hardware. The Duo 2 uses the flagship 2021 chipset powered by Snapdragon 888, bringing 5G and NFC to the device along with it. Both AMOLED displays are slightly larger and are now 90Hz, while there is an all-new triple rear camera system.
Elsewhere, you get a much larger 4449mAh battery (up from 3577mAh in the original) and a new “gaze bar” that lets you check notifications without opening your device. An obsidian variant (black) has now been added to the existing glacier model (white).
Here’s everything you need to know about buying a Surface Duo 2 in the UK and US, whether you’re looking for a SIM-free or on-contract model.

Black Friday November 26 of this year, followed by Cyber Monday November 29. With such a recent launch, we didn’t expect to see the Duo 2 in any Black Friday deals, but we were wrong.

However, the deal we found is for the UK only – nothing is visible in the US so far.
