Star Trek: Discovery Season 5 Release date, trailers and news
Star Trek: Discovery is set to return with a fifth season next year, and we finally know a little bit about what to expect from the far future of the Trek universe.
Here’s everything you need to know about Discovery season 5, including how to watch it, the first trailer and new cast news.
When does Discovery season 5 start?
At the moment, there is no official release date for the fifth season, except that it will appear some time later. 2023. There will only be ten episodes this year – fewer than usual – to bring the number of Discovery episodes in line with other ongoing Trek series.
Once Paramount+ launches, the show will launch exclusively on that platform in the US, UK, and other countries where Paramount+ is available.

We only have one trailer for Season 5 at the moment, and it’s more of a teaser, but it does give some tantalizing glimpses of what’s to come:
What is the plot of Star Trek: Discovery Season 5?
While we are not sure. We know that this season, Burnham and his team will go in search of “ancient power” in search of treasure in the usual Star Trek format.
What this force might be and why it might be needed, we do not yet know.
Who are the cast and crew of the fifth season of Star Trek: Discovery?
The team from Season 4 looks set to return, and the following has already been confirmed:

- Mary Wiseman – Sylvia Tilly

- Jan Alexander – Gray
- Emily Coutts – Kayla Detmer
- Oyin Oladejo – Joanne Owosekun
- Tig Notaro – Jett Rhino
- David CronenbergKovich
- Tara Rosling – T’Rina
- Oded Fehr – Charles Vance
At least three newcomers are also known. The most notable of these is Callum Keith Rennie, who will play Rayner, a Starfleet captain who “keeps a clear line between commander and crew.”
He will be joined by Elias Toufexis and Eve Harlow as Luck and Moll, two former couriers who appear to be after the same artifact as the Discovery crew.
Alex Kurtzman and Michelle Paradise are back as showrunners.
Where can I watch Star Trek: Discovery seasons 1-4?
The show is exclusive to the streaming service Paramount+ (formally CBS All Access) for viewers in the US and UK. Subscriptions start at $4.99 / £6.99. However, new users get a seven-day free trial, and in the UK, Sky customers can sign up for free.

How to watch Discovery in other countries
The good news for international Discovery fans is that there are ways to watch Paramount Plus outside of the US. If you’re not in one of the countries receiving the show through Paramount+ or digital stores, this will be the best legal way to watch the show when it airs in the States instead of waiting months to see what’s next.
