Xiaomi 12 Ultra is preparing to launch soon and its main specifications have surfaced online. The upcoming flagship smartphone from the Chinese tech giant has already been leaked to get a quad rear camera setup, and now a leaker suggests it could get a powerful periscope telephoto lens. It is said to have the same camera setup as its predecessor, the Xiaomi 11 Ultra. The upcoming Xiaomi 12 Ultra is expected to launch sometime in February after the Chinese Spring Festival.
According to bug Digital chat station, Xiaomi 12 Ultra will receive a 5x periscope telephoto lens. If this is true, then Xiaomi’s flagship smartphone will be one of the first Chinese smartphones to feature a high optical zoom lens. Tipster earlier mentioned that there are practically no smartphones on the market with a lens with a 5x optical zoom. The OnePlus 10 Pro recently released has a 3.3x optical zoom.
The Xiaomi 12 series, including the Ultra model, will be powered by Xiaomi’s own Surge chips. In addition, the smartphone said to get Leica powered cameras. Gizmochina report also shared an image of the upcoming smartphone, which shows the design of the front and back, as well as the design of the body.
According to the image published in the report, the Xiaomi 12 Ultra will have a curved display with a centrally located cutout for the selfie camera. The back panel is not visible in the image as the phone has a protective case. However, the design of the protective case is consistent with the design shown in the previous report.
The Xiaomi 12 Ultra is said to have a 6.6-inch 2K AMOLED display. The upcoming flagship smartphone is said to be missing the secondary display that was one of the key selling points of its predecessor, the Xiaomi 11 Ultra. The upcoming smartphone is expected to be released sometime in February and will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC.
