IN next Samsung Unpacked event Rumor has it that August is long overdue, with most leaks going around the 11th as the likely date. Now it seems like Samsung has roundabout confirmed this through its virtual assistant Bixby.
As noted SamMobileif you press the Bixby button on your Samsung Galaxy and then ask “when is the next unboxing”, you get the answer in Morse code. When we tested this on an affordable phone, it came with a “listen carefully” message, but SamMobile says that sometimes it says “can you crack the code?” instead.
However, the series of beeps and pauses corresponds to August 11, so it looks like the leaks have been confirmed.
According to trusted leader Evan Blass, Samsung is set to bombard viewers with new products at the upcoming Unpacked event. Rather than just presenting the new foldable devices in the form of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3, Samsung is going to introduce two new Galaxy Watch 4 models, the Galaxy Buds 2 and the Galaxy S21 FE.
The last one is the most surprising. Just over a month ago, there were rumors that the production of the Galaxy S21 FE was suspended due to the ongoing shortage of chips and Samsung’s need for affordable components to power foldable devices. Whether this report was incorrect, or whether the S21 FE will be available in less numbers as a result, we will have to wait and see.
Foldable phones, however, will be in the spotlight as the world waits to see if rumors of a 20 percent price cut come true or if phones remain as prohibitively expensive as the previous two generations. If Samsung manages to bring down the price significantly, it could be the year foldable devices hit the mainstream.
