Samsung QD-OLED TVs 2023 will be the brightest

Samsung kicked off 2023 by unveiling a new lineup of QD-OLED TVs at CES, which the company claims are the brightest to date.
Announced by Samsung Display, the lineup now includes an all-new 77-inch screen size, the largest panel produced so far for its quantum dot OLED TVs. It is joined by 55- and 65-inch variants, the same panels found on the 2022 QD-OLED S95B TVs.
The South Korean tech giant says this year’s QD-OLED TVs can reach peak brightness of up to 2,000 nits. That means they should be brighter than LG’s 2023 OLED displays, which Tech Going estimates peak brightness at around 1,800 nits. This also matches the number set by some mini LED TVs.
Samsung claims that this is due to “the advanced IntelliSense AI optimization algorithm and the new OLED HyperEfficient EL material.” This should also increase the quality of the image, resulting in more accurate colors.
TVs in general are said to use 25 percent less energy, which means lower electricity bills. This can be a huge selling point, though remember that bigger screens tend to use more power, so there’s always an incentive to buy a smaller TV if you’re really money-saving (plus they’re cheaper).
Samsung has yet to reveal prices and release dates. However, more information may emerge over the next few days during CES.
Last year, QD-OLED prices started at $2,200/£1,799 at first launch and were available in North America, the UK, Europe, and South Korea. Most likely, they will be available from Samsung, Amazon and other major retailers. We gave the QE55 4.5 out of 5 stars, partly because of the picture quality and stylish design.
