Samsung leads 5G Android smartphone market with 24% of global sales in February: Counterpoint

In February, Samsung led the 5G Android smartphone market in terms of global sales, according to data provided by the research firm. According to a Counterpoint Research report, Android accounted for 67% of global 5G smartphone sales, and the top 10 phones accounted for 20% of all Android 5G phones sold in February. Five of the company’s phones are among the best-selling 5G phones, and in the same month, Samsung captured nearly 24% of global Android 5G smartphone sales.

The Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G has been the best-selling phone since January 2022 – according to the report, it has been one of the top 10 best-selling smartphones for the past six months in a row. With sales in South Korea and the US, the Galaxy S22 Ultra, released in February, became the second best-selling phone on the list and accounted for two-thirds of Galaxy S22 series sales.

Meanwhile, promotions in the US and sales in Germany pushed the Galaxy S21 FE to number three, up from number 10 in January. According to the report, the Galaxy A32 5G and Galaxy A22 5G ranked fourth and tenth among the best-selling smartphones in February respectively due to prices of these phones under $250 (roughly Rs. 19,200).

Fifth place on the list of best-selling Android phones for February 2022 was the Oppo Reno 7 5G, which was the top-selling smartphone in China in the same month. Smartphone demand is still strong in China, where 5G penetration hit 83% as of February, but smartphone makers such as Oppo Vivo, Xiaomi and Honor are reportedly looking to expand into new markets in Asia Pacific (APAC). ) and Central Asia. Two Honor phones are also on the February 2022 best-selling phones list, the Honor 60 and Honor X30, which account for 30 percent of Honor’s smartphone share in China.
