The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 was unveiled globally along with the Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Buds 2 Pro at the company’s Unpacked event this week. The smartphone is the fourth iteration of Samsung’s line of foldable smartphones and is an upgrade from last year’s offering, the Galaxy Z Fold 3. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 features a 50-megapixel primary rear sensor, 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity. Flex Display and features a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. Externally, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is very similar to its predecessor, but differs in price, processor, storage options, and more.
Let’s compare the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 with its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, to understand the main differences between the two foldable phones on paper.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Fold 3 price
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 starts at $1,799.99 (roughly Rs. 1,42,700) in global markets, the same as the Galaxy Z Fold 3. The new Galaxy Z Fold 4 will be available in Beige, Gray Green and Phantom Black . colors. The earlier model, in contrast, is sold in Phantom Black, Phantom Green, and Phantom Silver.
Detailed pricing information for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 in India has yet to be announced. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 has been unveiled in India, starting at Rs. 1,49,999 for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant and Rs. 1,57,999 for the 12GB RAM and 512GB storage variant.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is the first smartphone to run One UI 4.1.1 based on Android 12L, while the Galaxy Z Fold 3 runs Android 11 with One UI on top.
On the front, the new Galaxy Z Fold 4 has a 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex display as its main screen. It has a QXGA+ resolution (2176×1812 pixels) and an aspect ratio of 21.6:18. This is an LTPO display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The phone features a 6.2-inch HD+ (904×2316 pixels) Dynamic AMOLED 2X Display on the lid with an adaptive refresh rate up to 120Hz and a 23.1:9 aspect ratio.
The Galaxy Z Fold 4 displays are similar in size to those of the Galaxy Z Fold 3. However, this time around, Samsung has upped the resolution to provide better image quality.
The Galaxy Z Fold 3 features a 7.6-inch QXGA+ (2208×1768 pixels) Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex main display with 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, 22.5:18 aspect ratio and 374ppi pixel density. The protective screen is equipped with a 6.2-inch dynamic AMOLED 2X HD+ (832×2268 pixels) display with an adaptive refresh rate of 120 Hz, an aspect ratio of 24.5: 9 and a pixel density of 387 ppi.
Under the hood of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, paired with 12GB of RAM as standard. In contrast, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 has a Snapdragon 888 SoC paired with 12GB of RAM as standard.
With flagship-level triple cameras, the new model has improvements over the Galaxy Z Fold 3. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 features a 50MP main camera with OIS, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, and a 10MP telephoto lens. with 3x optical zoom and 30x digital zoom. The camera unit of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 has a 12MP main sensor with OIS, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, and a 12MP telephoto sensor. Both models feature 4MP selfie cameras and 10MP under-display cameras.
Samsung has packed up to 1TB of internal storage in the Galaxy Z Fold 4, which is more than the maximum 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage available in the Galaxy Z Fold 3. Both models have a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for authentication.
As with the Galaxy Z Fold 3, Samsung has added S Pen support to the Galaxy Z Fold 4. Both devices support Flex mode and are IPX8 dust and water resistant.
In terms of battery, the two foldable phones have a very similar setup. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 3 have a 4400mAh dual-cell battery that supports 25W fast charging with compatible chargers.
