Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 may get new names. According to the leaker, the South Korean company may release future smartphones without the “Z” in their monikers, and they could be called the Samsung Galaxy Fold 4 and Galaxy Flip 4. This may not come as a shock because Samsung has removed the “Z” from the Galaxy Z Fold in the past. 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 in the Baltics, reportedly due to the letter’s connection to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
According to tweet From tipster SnoopyTech, starting with the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4, the company won’t list the “Z” on the boxes. The informant says this is because the Russian military uses the letter. Not a word about this from Samsung. In fact, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 names are not yet official.
However, this seems plausible as the South Korean company removed the letter from the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip smartphones in three Baltic countries: Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. There was no official statement about this, but it was suggested that it was done because Samsung wanted to cut everything related to Russia due to the country’s invasion of Ukraine. The footage shows Russian tanks in Ukraine marked “Z”.
Samsung has previously said that all foldable phones will be in the Z series as it conveys the message of a foldable phone. “With the Z Series, we are adopting a new naming convention for our foldable portfolio that demonstrates our commitment to expanding the category to offer a variety of options. We chose the letter “Z” for this series because it intuitively conveys the idea of the pleat while creating a dynamic and youthful feel. Bloomberg said in February 2020.
Both foldable phones will most likely be unveiled on August 10 at the Galaxy Unpacked event. The Galaxy Watch 5 series and Galaxy Buds 2 Pro are expected to debut alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 smartphones.
