According to recent reports, the Samsung Galaxy S21 family may receive the Android 12 update this December.
When it comes to updating to the latest version of Android, Samsung doesn’t usually associate with speed. But we may be in the mood for a surprisingly fast turnaround in Google’s new Android 12.
Tizenhelp reports that the moderator of the Galaxy S community in South Korea has confirmed that the final version of One UI 4.0 will roll out to Samsung Galaxy S21 models in December.
One UI is Samsung’s Android user interface, and version 3.0 runs on Android 11. However, version 4.0 should run on Android 12.
The corresponding quote, translated into machine translation, reads: “Currently the Galaxy S21 is also developing Android version 12 (One UI 4), and the situation is changing, so it is difficult to give a clear answer. We are actively cooperating with CT operators, and, most likely, this will be possible no later than December. “
While we must emphasize that this is a crude machine translation, the phrase “at the latest” is interesting. Will we see Android 12 on a Samsung device before December?
In any case, it’s worth noting that this confirmation is for carriers in South Korea, where Samsung resides. It doesn’t necessarily follow that Galaxy S21 owners in the rest of the world will have Android 12 by the end of the year.
However, as the report points out, One UI 3.0 became available to Samsung Galaxy S20 users in the US around the same time as South Korean users, so a wider rollout of Android 12 is certainly possible.
