Samsung Electronics announced on December 30 that sales of its Galaxy Z series foldable phones more than quadrupled this year from last year.
Company explained that these are the cumulative sales of the previous Galaxy Z series, including the Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Galaxy Z Flip 5G, as well as the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 launched in August this year.
The industry forecasts sales of the Galaxy Z series to reach around 8 million units this year.
Samsung Electronics clarified that sales of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 surpassed total sales of foldable phones last year in the month following their release. Samsung’s foldable phones sold nearly 2 million units last year.
Samsung Electronics reported that many customers who have used other brands of smartphones have switched to the Galaxy Z series.
Samsung explained that the number of users who switched their smartphones to the Galaxy Flip 3 increased 1.5 times compared to the Galaxy Note 20 and 1.4 times compared to the Galaxy S21.
