The Redmi K50 series based on the top MediaTek Dimensity SoCs was launched in China in March this year. Now, a possible successor, the Redmi K60 series, is said to be in the works as the next offering from the Chinese smartphone company. Redmi K60 models are expected to feature a 2K display with a center-aligned display cutout. The Redmi K60 is said to be equipped with a 50-megapixel main sensor. It may also have an in-display fingerprint scanner and support 100W fast charging. In addition, Xiaomi is rumored to introduce the Redmi K50 Ultra next month.
Tipster digital chat station on Chinese microblogging site Weibo proposed that the prototype models of the next generation sub-series will be equipped with MediaTek and Qualcomm processors manufactured using TSMC’s 4nm process. According to the leak, the phones will have a punch-hole display with 2K resolution. It is said to feature a 50-megapixel primary rear camera sensor and may have an in-display fingerprint scanner for authentication. Future models are also said to offer 100W charging support.
According to report from ITHome (in Chinese), the smartphone range the whistleblower is referring to could be the Redmi K60 series. Redmi K60 models will reportedly be equipped with a Sony IMX766 sensor. According to the report, Xiaomi will also introduce the Redmi K50 Ultra in August. The phone may be powered by Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC and offer support for 120W fast charging. It is also reported that it will receive a MediaTek Dimensity SoC variant with support for 100W fast charging.
However, Xiaomi has not officially revealed any details about the Redmi K60 and Redmi K50 Ultra series, so this information should be taken with a grain of salt.
As a reminder, Redmi K50 Pro and Redmi K50 were launched in China in March. The former is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SoC, while the latter is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8100 SoC. The flagship models feature liquid cooling technology as well as a 120Hz refresh rate and 2K resolution displays that support Dolby Vision.
