The launch of the Redmi K50 series in China is scheduled for February 16th. Ahead of the launch, a Xiaomi spokesperson shared some of the key features of one of the smartphones in the lineup, the Redmi K50 Gaming Edition. The smartphone will be equipped with a 4700 mAh battery with an impressive fast charging speed. The smartphone is considered to be the fastest charging smartphone equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. In addition, Redmi also announced a partnership with the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team, hinting at the release of a special smartphone.
Across mail On the Chinese microblogging site Weibo, Redmi General Manager Lu Weibing confirmed the battery and charging specifications of the upcoming Redmi K50 Gaming Edition. As mentioned, Redmi’s gaming smartphone will come with a 4,700mAh battery and support 120W fast charging. The smartphone can be fully charged (from zero to 100 percent) in about 17 minutes. Weibing claims that the Redmi K50 Gaming Edition is the fastest-charging smartphone powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC.
However, the message also mentions that the 17-minute charge time is reached when the device is manually enabled for fast charging boost mode.
Across mail On Weibo, Redmi announced a partnership with the Mercedes-AMG Petronas team that has won the F1 World Championship multiple times. However, the post did not give details of the partnership, but hinted that there could be a dedicated Redmi K50 Mercedes F1 smartphone in the works.
The Redmi K50 series launches in China on February 16th. The Redmi K50 series is reported to include the vanilla models of Redmi K50, Redmi K50 Pro, Redmi K50 Pro+, and Redmi K50 Gaming Edition. At the moment, it is unclear which smartphones will be revealed during this week’s Redmi presentation. It is speculated that one of the devices could be the Redmi K50 Gaming Edition smartphone based on the images posted in the teasers.
